A very Merry Late Christmas

Christmas is over and I don't know about any of you, but I finally feel like I can breathe again. Between all of the parties, plays and various other things leading up to the big day, I am POOPED! One thing I can say for the first time in I don't even know how long, I did not have to go anywhere. I woke up on Christmas morning in my bed, went to my coffee pot and got me a cup of joe and then waited for my two little monkies to come down the stairs to see the presents that Santa had left for them under their tree and their house. It was GREAT!!! I have traveled for pretty much every holiday since I was born (sometimes even for my birthday). I really loved that my kids got to have Christmas at their house. We got to go to the Christmas Eve service at our church and it was wonderful to get to celebrate our Saviors birthday with our church family. My mom and her boyfriend (a.k.a. the real Santa and Mrs. Clause) got to come spend Christmas with us and I don't think any of us got out of our pjs on Christmas Day. Anyway, all to be said it was so great. I hope that each of you had a great holiday and that you remembered the true meaning of Christmas while you were celebrating his birthday with your family.

I did actually manage to get a few things done during the craziness.

Crayon Rolls

WOW!!! I can't believe that the last thing I posted was about being sick. I guess the madness of the holidays took over more than I thought. The most recent thing I have made were these crayon rolls. They are my favorite gift right now. I make them for birthday parties and give with a couple of coloring books. It holds 16 crayons and rolls up nice and small, so it is perfect for the purse or a diaper bag. These were for a friend. She is giving them to 5 little girls for Christmas.
I am officially done with all of my orders so far, so now I can make that Christmas shirt for Parker Reese that I have been putting off. Maybe I will get it done before Christmas.

Sickness, Halloween and a Little Progress

Thursday morning I woke up with a low grade fever and body aches. Michael had planned to play 36 holes (that's two rounds) of golf with a friend and even though I felt TERRIBLE, I sucked it up and climbed on the couch for some R&R....HA HA HA! I took this picture because when I went to bed Wednesday night the house was spotless (of course I have no proof), but by 11:00 it looked like this. And by noon there was macaroni on the floor too. So much for the much needed R&R. I did end up calling Michael and made him come home after only 18 holes. I couldn't take it anymore and neither could the kiddos.

By Friday I was feeling much better and we were able to make it to the Fall Festival at the club. It would have been fun if it hadn't been so DARK! We really could not even enjoy the festivities because we could not take our eyes off of the kids for a second. Seriously, it was DARK. I kept telling Michael that we were eating mystery food because you could not tell what it was until it was in your mouth.

Saturday night was the Harvest celebration at our church. It was so much fun and the kids had a great time. We usually stay for the talent show, but honestly I think we were getting a little Falled out! I made these squirrel outfits for the kids and I just love this fabric. Peyton's shirt is appliqued and Parker Reese's has a smocking insert.

Here is a close up of the squirrel smocking insert in Park's shirt.

Sunday night was Halloween and we went trick-or-treating in our friend Mark and Laura's neighborhood. It was our second year to do it with them and we had a ball. The whole neighborhood gets together for a block party and then they trick-or-treat together as a group. Maybe next year I will try to get that started in our new neighborhood. I guess its time to meet the neighbors!!!
Here is Parker Reese as a candy corn and Peyton as a Star Wars Storm Trooper.
And last but not least, is my progress!!! Here come the holidays. I did these two shirts this week to kick off Thanksgiving and Christmas. All I need to do now is make the pants to match and it is checked off of my ever growing list.

SEW-A-THON (plus a few orders)

I am lucky enough to be part of a "sewing circle" here in my home town. Every Thursday a group of girls meet at sweet Theresa's house and sew from 6:30pm - 9:30pm. Let me tell you that I have learned EVERYTHING that I know about sewing from these wonderful women. On that note, every year sweet Theresa opens her home for a 24 hour Sew-A-Thon from 5:30 on a Friday night to 5:30 Saturday night. Most of us spend the night and then we sew until our pretty much every bone in our bodies hurts and we (meaning ME) are stupid from exhaustion. Example would be that Sunday morning before church, I put 6 scoops of sugar in my coffee, while putting 0 scoops in Michael's cup. Anyway, it was too much fun and I can't wait until next year. I was able to crank out 2 jumpers and 1 overall for Parker Reese. Boy was I productive!!!!

This is an overall pattern that I LOVE!!! I don't have this fabric available anymore (it was a remnant), but I can make it in another fabric.

I don't know if you can tell, but this fabric is navy with little white apples with pink stems all over it. I also thought this would be really cute with an appliqued apple on a shirt and a pair of pants made out of this same fabric. Hmmmm....I see an idea for next fall!

The last is a purple jumper with an ivory, floral print shirt turned out better than I thought. For some reason, purple outfits are hard for me, but this I really like. The piping on the the romper is the floral print.

And Here are Two Orders!!!

This was for my friends little girl Katherine. I really like the megaphone and pom poms (even though it was painful to do a Bama shirt).

This is the Dotty applique font from Embroidery Boutique.

Hopefully, I will have a few more things posted this week, but don't know because the goblins are out and I may not be able to get much done.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

My Infomercial!!!

The other day I was reading Rosemary Gulledge's blog and she posted about a grout cleaner that she got from the Dollar General that did an AMAZING job cleaning her grout. Well, that gave me the idea for my own infomercial for this AMAZING spot remover that I use ALL THE TIME! The other day, I got Parker Reese dressed in her new dog shirt and we headed to Kangaroos (bounce house place) for a morning of fun. Well, after pizza and a red drink this is what her brand new outfit, that she had worn once looked like:

And here is the shirt after the Resolve with Spray and Wash stick (you have to use the stick, the spray does not work the same). This thing is AWESOME!!!!

This is a picture of the whole outfit. I just love the dachshund fabric.

Another Outfit inspired by some Target Leggings

I just love the leggings that I found at Target for $3.50. What and incredible price and paired with a cute tee from Belk with the zig zag petal patch with a "P" ...it is ADORABLE. I was a busy bee today. I appliqued 3 shirts and am hoping that my machine is not about to go on the fritz. It was making a weird squeaking sound. I turned it off and am hoping that tomorrow it will be all "better". I did manage to get Peyton's fall squirrel shirt made along with the "P" tee and the dachshund tee that will go with the pants that I am going to make out of the dachshund fabric that I posted yesterday. Hopefully, those will be done this week and I can post a pic of the whole outfit. Here is to some more sewing this week!!!

Happy Late Birthday Dylan and Early Birthday Austin

I should probably tell you that I am the worlds WORST person at remembering birthdays. I guess that isn't intirely true....I am just really bad at acknowledging them. I usually remember them about a week to a few days before hand and then totally forget when it comes to the actual day. Anyway, the shirts below are for my cousin Trent's two, adorable boys Austin & Dylan. Dylan's birthay has already passed and Austin's is coming up, so I decided to meet in the middle.

FABRIC, FABRIC AND MORE FABRIC!!!!

I also went to Hancock yesterday on my way to take Parker Reese to Little Gym. We ended up being 10 minutes late to her class, but I hit the jackpot. I don't actually have a plan for most of the fabrics (except the one on the top left with the dachshunds). I am planning to make some pants out of it and I bought a really cute dachshund applique from www.appliquealley.com that I am planning to put on a cute tee. Can't wait to get that worked up and then I will post. Cleaned the house today, so I could work on some things tomorrow while Peyton is at school. Maybe I will have something to post tomorrow.

Happy Halloween

I told myself that I was not going to make Halloween outfits for this year, but somewhere over the weekend that went right out the window and I made Peyton a Frakenstein shirt (on a leap of faith, since he generally doesn't want to wear appliqued shirts anymore). I made Parker Reese this adorable dress with a spider applique on it, which Peyton asked if he could wear. How innocent the mind of a 4 year old is when they don't realize they are asking to wear a dress.

I also am posting this pic of an adorable jumper that I made for Parker Reese last year and she is just getting to wear this year. This pattern runs really BIG, but I like the finished product. Did I mention that I am in love with owls this fall?

My New Favorite Colors Together (orange and mint green)

This week is jumper week! I have been working like crazy to get some Fall stuff ready for Parker Reese, since the the weather decided to make a dramatic turn towards cool....Praise the LORD! I have to admit that I was really over our three times a week pool ritual. Anyway, welcome FALL and this outfit is for you!

I also thougt it would be fun to show the little closet under the stairs that has become my "sewing room". Believe it or not it is perfect! It is right beside the laundry room and when I am done, I close the door and PRESTO the mess is gone.

Happy Fall Ya'll

OK...so it is still over 90 degrees here, but technically, it is FALL! The pumpkins are out and I have started on my fall sewing. Today, Peyton had a birthday party to go to at the Magnolia Springs Corn Maze. Well, we couldn't possibly wear one of the hundreds of shirts we already have in the closet, we needed to have matching tractor tees for the party. It was fun and they looked so stinkin cute.

I also found these adorable bootleg leggings at target with owls and squirls. I appliqued the owl to match and think it turned out pretty cute. Now, if it would just cool off, so we could actually wear some of our new clothes.
