After watching an episode of Jon & Kate, Plus 8, I decided to start having a movie night with Peyton about once a month. Now please do not think that I look to t.v. parents for insight on how to raise my own children, but it seemed like a decent tradition to start. Michael and I agreed that we would do this about once a month and it would be a special time for just the three of us...for now. So tonight, I popped popcorn and the three of us piled into our bed and watched Monster's Inc. We had such a great time. Believe it or not, he watched the entire movie.
So all of us are officially SICK! Well, all of us except for the diseased monkey (a.k.a. Daddy); he is just the carrier! Parker had a tough night the first night that she was getting sick, but now both are just trucking along. While I am well aware and grateful for how far we have come in medical advances, I still find it very frustrating that little ones under 2 are expected to endure severe colds with no relief. Peyton doesn't let much slow him down. Yesterday, he was coughing all day and finally he comes to me and says "Mommy, I need some medicine because I'm choking". I of course am trucking along, because as we all know...Mommies do not get sick days!

Well today was a boring, yet eventful day. I started my morning with my usual cup of coffee and with my usual "I need a snackin" request from Peyton. For those of you that do not know a snackin is breakfast, lunch, dinner and an actual snack. Peyton greats me every morning with a hug, kiss and a request for his snackin and juicein. This week was my week to keep my friend Laura's little boy Reid, so we left around 8:45 to go and get him. Peyton was so excited and chatted the whole way to their house. Actually, he started at our house asking me if every house was Reid's house and I would say "nope". After about 10 minutes (yes this actually went on for a whole 10 minutes) of him asking me if every house was Reid's and me answering him with a enthusiastic "nope", he looks at me an says "Don't tell me nope". I could hardly contain my laughter. He can be such a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde sometimes. Reid stayed at our house until right before lunch and then Michael and one of his agents came home for lunch. When Peyton saw Michael at the door he said "Look Mommy, it's Michael Shawn. He also greeted Michael this afternoon when he came home for the day with "Hey! Michael Shawn". I couldn't stop laughing. We have been teaching him what everyone's full name is, so I know where it is coming from, but it was still funny to hear him calling his daddy "Michael Shawn". Parker also had a great moment today! She took her first steps toward crawling. She got up on her hands and knees and then moved them in the forward direction. She only moved once or twice and then she fell, but it was very exciting, especially to mom. Like I said, to say was boring, yet eventful.

Ok! I have decided to join the blogging community and give it a try. I have never kept a journal and while I don't really have anything grand to say, I do feel like my kids give me an endless supply of material on a daily basis. Therefore, this blog is probably going to be mostly about them. Peyton is 2 1/2 and it seems like his brain never stops. He talks from the time his eyes open until the time his eyes shut. He is constantly doing or saying something funny, so I am sure you will gain a vast knowledge of him during this process. Parker is 7 months and is just so much fun. She has been a much loved addition to our family and has such a sweet and fun personality. She has begun to "explore" Peyton, which basically means that she has discovered the wonderful world of pulling his hair, shirt, or anything else she can get her hands on. Peyton has discovered that the world of parenting is not in his favor and has let me know on more than one occasion that Parker needs a spanking. I shouldn't, but I still find it surprising that a two year old has the intuition to figure out that he is getting spankings and she is not and that something is just not quite right about that. However, on the other side of this is that he loves her so much and really wants her to feel safe. The other day we were driving to a friends house and Parker was crying because it was getting close to her nap. He looks over at her an in the kindest voice that I have ever heard out of a two year old says "Don't worry Parker, I right here". Have you ever heard anything sweeter?!? Well, I am going to end on that very sweet note. I hope that through this blog you will gain a greater insight into our lives and maybe have a few laughs along the way.
